La Esperanza Farm: A Legacy of High-Quality Peruvian Coffee

La Esperanza, meaning "hope," is Fidel's family farm, located in the coffee-rich northern region of Perú. The name reflects the aspiration to produce speciality coffee and become one of the best coffee producers in the region.

As a third-generation coffee farmer, Fidel takes great pride in his heritage and strives to improve not only his farm but also to inspire neighbouring coffee growers. The land has been passed down from his father, and over the past five years, Fidel has transformed it by replacing old varieties such as catimor and pache with the Yellow Caturra variety, known for its exceptional performance in this unique Peruvian terroir. This shift has resulted in improved yields and consistently high cup scores.

Why Yellow Caturra? The Yellow Caturra variety has been carefully selected for its adaptability to the local climate, yielding top-quality coffee beans. The combination of Peru’s diverse microclimates and Fidel’s dedication to best farming practices has produced some of the finest coffees in the region.

Fidel works closely with the local cooperative and the field team at Falcon Coffee Perú, but it is his unwavering dedication, passion, and meticulous attention to detail that have truly made a difference in the quality of the coffee produced at La Esperanza.

Natural Processing and Expert Fermentation The coffee from La Esperanza is processed using the natural method. The ripe cherries undergo a fermentation process tailored to the environmental temperature and weather conditions. Drying is carefully managed on raised beds within a solar dryer, ensuring the parchment reaches the optimal moisture content within six to eight days.

Fidel’s commitment to traditional yet refined techniques allows him to consistently produce high-quality coffee, which is sought after by coffee enthusiasts worldwide.
