Fazenda Bom Jesus: Heritage, Sustainability, and Specialty Coffee

Fazenda Bom Jesus, managed by Gabriel and Flavia Lancha Oliveira, carries a rich heritage in coffee cultivation. Both are grandchildren of coffee producers and have passed their passion to their sons, Lucas and Gabriel Jr., who now work full-time on the farm. Established in 1984, The Labareda Group diversified into various rural activities, but coffee remains their primary crop and passion. Located in Cristais Paulistas in the Alta Mogiana Region, Fazenda Bom Jesus is at the heart of Brazil's coffee culture.

Sustainable Development and Community Focus

Gabriel and Flavia aim to foster sustainable social and economic development in their region. As founders of the Alta Mogiana Specialty Coffee Association (AMSC), they advocate for specialty coffee awareness and improved farming practices. Employees at Fazenda Bom Jesus receive performance bonuses alongside fixed wages, and all workers must be literate and trained for their roles. Additionally, the children of the workforce must be enrolled in local schools, ensuring education for the next generation.

Environmental Stewardship

Fazenda Bom Jesus boasts over 140 hectares of Natural Reserve, teeming with diverse fauna and flora. Annual audits catalog the vegetation and wildlife, supported by Rainforest Alliance researchers. The farm produces its own compost, emphasizing sustainable agriculture. Social contributions include events like GIMA, where over 400 children from surrounding towns participate in educational and sports activities, with prizes sponsored by the farm.

Optimal Growing Conditions

The coffee at Fazenda Bom Jesus thrives at an altitude of around 1,000 meters above sea level, with ideal rainfall levels of approximately 1,000mm per year and constant temperatures of 20-25°C. These conditions are perfect for growing healthy coffee trees and cherries, ensuring high-quality yields.

Certifications and Traceability

In 2006, Fazenda Bom Jesus became the first farm in the Alta Mogiana Region to be UTZ certified, ensuring 100% traceability of their coffee. The farm is also a member of the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association and has been Rainforest Alliance (RFA) certified since 2008. These certifications underscore their commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Recycling and the correct use of safety equipment are integral practices on the farm.

Explore Fazenda Bom Jesus, where tradition, sustainability, and specialty coffee converge to create an exceptional coffee experience.
